Our goodest boi, Asher has finally made his way to the adoption page! He’s looking for an active home that can handle his high energy needs along with his minor health issues.
As a high energy pup, Asher needs plenty of exercise (both physical and mental) to help wear him out and to set him up for success. He is an extremely intelligent boy with amazing potential. With dedicated training, we have no doubt Asher will make an excellent sporting dog or companion for an active outdoorsy family.
Asher loves all people and adores dogs of all kinds. Big or small, he loves them all! Having another high energy or playful dog to help expend some of his energy would be an ideal match. Asher can occasionally play rough so a dog around his size and one that won’t be easily annoyed by his desire to play is important. Asher currently lives with cats and older kids. He would be happy to share his home with children who can participate in his training and dog savvy-cats who won’t mind a sometimes obnoxious puppy.
Once Asher is worn out there is nothing he likes better than to sprawl out in front of the fireplace and watch TV with his family. He likes to snuggle provided it’s on his terms and thinks he can contort his long lanky body into the perfect lapdog.
Asher came to us as a very young pup after he was attacked by his mom and his owners could not afford any veterinary care to have him treated for his wounds. As Asher continued to grow he experienced intermittent vomiting and diarrhea which was diagnosed by one of our specialty vets as Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). This means that Asher will always be prone to gastric upset but when kept on a special vegetarian diet, his symptoms pretty much disappear. Asher will likely need to stay on this food long term and he may have further symptoms as he ages. It’s important for any potential adopter to be prepared for future vet visits and possible hospital stays in relation to this highly treatable and manageable syndrome.
If you’re looking for a dog to do fun stuff with and want a pup that can keep up with your active lifestyle – then Asher may be the dog for you!
