Hello from ray of sunshine Bina! This lady is oh so beautiful and is ready to find her very own active family and a place to call home.

Bina is the type of pooch that would likely succeed in a dog sport such as fly ball as she loves to run and play ball. She needs a person who can match her energy with a lot of outside activity. Want a running partner? Count her in! Bina considers a 5 km walk as her warm up before playtime. Due to her high energy needs, she would be best suited to a home with a large fenced in yard. If you don’t have a yard, yet are willing to rent a private fenced-in yard a couple times a week, that has worked well for her foster family. Don’t let this fool you though – once she’s had some exercise, this affectionate little love-bug is happy to come to you for a snuggle and kisses during a movie.

Bina has shown guarding tendencies while in care but her fosters have been working diligently to encourage her confidence and trust. Due to this behaviour, she absolutely is not suited to live with children. Bina isn’t the type of
dog from whom you can just forcefully remove an item from as that will just cause her guarding behaviour to worsen. However, with training she has learned ‘tradsies’ with other objects, and is stubbornly working on learning ‘leave-it’. Additionally, when little miss independent decides its her nap time, she will happily put herself to bed, but may get grumpy if disturbed before acheiving her optimal beauty sleep.

Bina currently lives with dog-savvy kitties and does very well as long as they respect her items (bed, food bowl and toys). Bina is awkward meeting new dogs, so slow and controlled intros are a must. When she sees a dog on a walk she will bark and jump, so she needs to learn proper intros. She is not a good match to live with dogs due to her guarding behaviour.

Bina is incredibly intelligent and has already completed a beginner good manners class with her foster family (and passed with
flying colours!). We would love to see Bina continue her training so priority will be given to adopters wanting to continue classes with her. Don’t let Bina’s beautiful looks fool you though… this lady can be stubborn and will out-smart you at times!

Bina has been left for a full work day and is great! As long as she gets a good walk or run before and after work, she can last the day. Her foster family also recommends a cognitive feeder (eg. snufflemat) to help occupy her mind. She is crate trained and house trained.
