Dr Zoe Hart

*We are unable to share a picture publicly but will provide one for well matched homes.*

Zoe is a spunky, sassy and so sweet girl.  She is eager to please but only once she gets her brain in-check.  She loves to play with her similar sized or bigger foster dog siblings and really finds happiness in hanging with easy going and playful dog buddies in the home. She can be bossy meeting new dogs, but most dogs she meets become playmates pretty quickly.  A sensitive dog or one that does not want to play would not be a good match.  At night, she settles if exercise has been flowing all day, and will curl up on a dog bed in your room.  Be warned, she might sneak up for a cuddle or kiss, but usually heads back to her bed.   We think she just wants to tuck you in!

Positive reinforcement is the way to go for Zoe.  Consistency and structure plus praise and treats go a long way.  She is sensitive to anyone being upset and so an easy going home life would be nice.  She would really love a person that could take her to training classes and we think she’d be a super star.  She still has puppy mouthing habits when excited and so she needs a kids free zone as those teeth can hurt.  She also has some separation anxiety when left, but her crating game is really up there now and she will go in happily to eat and take a nap quietly.  She is house trained as well.
Zo-Zo can bark when meeting new people or dogs and so treats and kind words help encourage her.  When overwhelmed, she tries to get away.  That’s okay too.  Making sure she is supported and rewarded for making good choices helps her a lot.  She still is quite squirmy when being handled, so this will also need regular positive association work! When Zoe feels safe and happy, she is pretty darn adorable and rather perfect.
Zoe’s still a pup and still has lots of learning, socialization and things to figure out in the world.  She’d happily call herself a work-in-progress.  If you think you fit Zoe’s needs and are ready to help her become the best she can be, please complete an application here: http://www.sitwithme.ca/drzoehart

  • Kids: 10+ and dog savvy please.
  • Housing Type: Detached – her barking is LOUD when she is left.
  • Fenced-in yard: Required or country setting on leash.
  • Special: Needs someone home more often, even post-covid.  Being left for 4 or so hours is fine but a full work day would be too long.  Zoe is going to be a very big girl and we would like to see her with someone that has experience with bigger dogs. Preference given to a home willing to attend training classes and considering pet insurance (or who has a very good emergency medical fund).
