Joni Mitchell

Joni Mitchell is a smart, sweet, happy dog who just wants to play and run around. She can be stubborn, but learns quickly. Joni is obsessed with her toys but can destroy them in her exuberance. She is happiest with her people outside or active in some way.

Joni loves dogs of all kinds, she loves to play and wrestle. When she is excited she doesn’t always get their cues but she would be happy living with another playful buddy or being a solo dog with doggy friends and playdates. Joni lives with cats and is respectful of them, she will chase them if they run but she does not hurt them. She could live with a dog savvy cat. Joni lives on a farm and is comfortable with a wide variety of animals. Joni lives with older kids and likes them, she would do best with older dog savvy kids in the home. Joni is a medium to high energy level dog, she loves going for walks, playing fetch, wrestling with her foster sister, and generally exploring. She has been skijoring and she loved it. Joni learns quickly and dog sports could be a great outlet for her. Joni is not super familiar with a leash but she is learning and her recall is pretty good and excellent if she knows you have treats.

Joni is crate trained and loves her crate! She often chooses to nap in her crate when she’s tired. Joni is potty trained. Joni loves toys and when taking toys from her people she can be rude and sometimes accidentally get your hand when grabbing the toy, her forever people will need to be comfortable with this and continue to work on it with her. Joni knows the commands sit, stay, off, and come, she would love a family who can continue to work with this smartie. Joni house manners are excellent. Joni likes getting into the car but is still getting used to the ride, with time this will improve.

When Joni came in while she was settling in she sang the song of her people hence the name Joni Mitchell, since settling in her singing has stopped but while transitioning to her new home it’s likely her forever family will hear some of her tunes. Joni wants to be outside running around with her people. Fetch, walks, runs are all good. Joni is truly a joy to be around, her zest for life is contagious and you can’t help but love her.
