Obie

Have you ever seen a cuter creature than Mr Obie? This little guy is absolutely jam packed with love, quirks and hilarity! If you are looking for a little dog to keep you on your toes, trust us, you found him!

Obie came into care a few months ago and it was clear from the beginning that he was an anxious little guy. Obie’s foster family worked hard with him on crate training, but this was far to stressful for Obie. He is looking for a home who will be comfortable with him being left loose when they are away. Obie will cry and sometimes howl when he is left alone. We are currently managing this with a low dose of medication to help ease his anxiety, this has worked really well for him, and his adopter’s will need to continue this in his forever home.

Obie has been working hard on his ability to meet and make friends with other dogs. He has successfully made friends with calm, non-confrontational dogs but can be reactive to others on walks. He continues to make great progress on his reactivity and is checking in regularly with his foster parents on his walks. His forever family will need to continue to work with Obie to be calm and relaxed on his walks.

Mr. Obie is a very human social doggo! He loves all the people that he meets and is a pretty calm guy when at home. He is not a high energy boy, but he really does adore his couple of walks a day. His walks are most successful in a calmer neighbourhood where he is less likely to be distracted by a large population of dogs. He is almost fully house trained but has had a couple of accidents when he is really stressed, mostly when his people have left him for a few hours.

Obie has so much to offer his forever family, and have you seen how cute he is?! If you feel you have a calm and supportive home to offer this boy, please apply today at www.sitwithme.ca/Obie (Version française aussi disponible!)
