Valencia is looking for a new best friend! Or multiple! she is not picky and is happy to consider anybody a best friend if they show her affection or play with her. Valencia has a lot of typical lab behaviours and she is not afraid to show her love. She ADORES people, WILL DO ANYTHING for food, and LOVES to play. She is particularly excited about balls, the squeakier the better.

This girl wants nothing more than to be with you all the time, the closer the better! After getting in her exercise she is more than happy to cuddle with you. She may be almost 80lbs but that does not stop this girl from doing her very best to convince you she is a lap dog. As much as she loves her people, she is perfectly happy to quietly sleep the day away in her crate while you are work. When you do come home, she will throw you a party that includes a song and dance!

Strangers, especially men, met on walks can make Valencia nervous. She expresses her nerves by barking at the perceived threat. Meeting that same stranger in the home, Valencia greets them as a friend.

Valencia doesn’t like dogs who are in her face and excited and she will correct them if they are too much. She would prefer a dog free home or a home with a laid back, relaxed dog who will let her do her own thing!

Valencia came into care in rough shape with a severe skin infection and quite over weight. She has come a long way since then and has not looked back! That said Valencia has some special needs to keep her healthy and happy. She requires a special hydrolyzed vegetarian diet that you can get from your vet and medication to control her allergies. This also means she needs treats made of fruits or veggies, which is just fine in Valencia’s opinion, she is happy to eat ANY food offered. Carrots and celery make great treats and help keep Valencia trim and fit! She also requires a new workout buddy dedicated to helping her continue her weight loss journey and keep the weight she has already lost off with a combination of long walks and active play sessions.
