It’s time to meet Zaya!

Zaya is a silly and loving girl with very expressive eyes. All she wants to do is be loved 24/7 as she enjoys being with her humans. If you leave the house for 2 minutes, she will greet you as if you were gone for 2 days.

Zaya absolutely loves to please her humans and hopes her new people will share their bed with her. She may be stubborn at times but has proven she can learn new commands like sit, wait, paw and drop it. She enjoys playing toss and tug of war with any toy she can find. Chewing is another one of her favorite things to do with her toys so she will need the toughest toy you can find to keep her entertained.

Zaya enjoys meeting new people! She can be overly cautious with larger men but will warm up quickly with a yummy treat. New people entering her home can come across as scary for her as well, but with slower intros and beef liver bites in hand, she is fast to see the new person in her house isn’t a threat. She can still be quite jumpy when her family and known friends enter, so we wouldn’t recommend her to a home with young children.

Zaya does have a high prey drive so her new family will need to be cautious if they choose to do off leash fun. She has never caught a squirrel but on walks will pull in hopes of getting to them. She has yet to be tested with cats or small animals in a home, but it is safe to assume she would have a similar reaction. She is extremely cautious when meeting new dogs and would be happiest as the only pet in her new home. Continued socialization in a controlled environment could help with her interactions with canines in the future.

She is a huge fan of walks and car rides but also enjoys time to herself to chill out with a toy and chew to her heart’s desire. She gets little spurts of energy in the home but primarily when her human is ready to play with her.

Zaya is currently on some medication to help with her anxiety but could potentially be weaned off over time under the direction of her adopters veterinarian. She is currently crated in an indestructible crate but has been left alone free in the home as long as all cupboards are locked and garbage is put away.

Zaya is incredibly loyal and her forever home will be lucky to have such a loving and unique canine in their life.
