Norah
Meet Norah the Explorer!
With her nose to the ground and her ears on high alert, Norah knows how to sniff out a good time in any patch of grass or inch of forest. Sniffing is her specialty, and she delights in getting outside to enjoy new scents and sights. Her current daily routine includes a long walk (around 5k), though this could be split into shorter strolls. She’s best described as medium energy — after a walk, she’s content to snooze the day away or gently mouth a soft squeaky toy in pure beagle bliss.
Norah has thrived in her foster home alongside three other dogs. She’s respectful of all canine companions but prefers playing with those her size who enjoy tug-of-war and the occasional gentle wrestling match. She hasn’t lived with kids but tends to shy away from very young children on walks. That said, gentle and respectful kids aged 10+ who want to brush her and teach her tricks would likely discover a loyal, eager best friend.
Easy to train and even easier to love, Norah is both housetrained and crate-trained. She has excellent manners and, although very food-motivated, doesn’t beg for human food.
Norah has shown great resilience in her time with Sit With Me. She’s had three surgeries — a spay, dental work with extractions, and removal of lumps. She’s not on any medication, but regular ear maintenance is a must due to her long, floppy ears. Fortunately, she’s incredibly cooperative — ear cleaning, tooth brushing, nail trims, and brushing all tend to end with her flopping on the ground in relaxed, tail-wagging delight. Her foster family also found that adding a quality Omega-3 oil to her food helps keep her fur and skin happy!
While many expect a hound to be noisy, Norah is mostly a quiet soul. She may whine a little when first left alone or in the car, but she soon settles. The one time she fully lets her hound voice shine? When you come home — she bays with joy and excitement. She can be a little clingy, so it’s best to keep arrivals and departures low-key to help her stay calm.
Norah is the kind of dog who will happily explore the world with you — and then curl up beside you at the end of the day. Her gentle heart, playful spirit, and soulful eyes are ready to find a forever home where she can continue to blossom. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who brings a perfect mix of adventure and affection, Norah might just be your girl.
