Fenix
Everybody meet Fenix, the sweetest most sensitive soul you’ll ever have the pleasure of knowing
When Fenix first arrived in care, she was very shut down and unsure of the world around her. She spent much of her time resting in her crate, observing from a distance. With time, patience, and lots of love, Fenix has learned that humans can be trusted, and her personality has truly begun to shine through with her foster family.
Having a foster brother has played a big role in building her confidence. Fenix is noticeably more timid when she’s alone and gains confidence when she has a canine companion to look to for reassurance. She happily follows her foster brother around the house and never misses an opportunity to sneak in some cuddles.
Fenix is a low-energy dog, her fosters say she’s a cat trapped in a dog’s body. She is fully house trained and fully crate trained. Her crate is her safe space. She can be left alone for a full workday (8 hours) with no accidents and no noise. When she feels overstimulated or there’s a lot going on, she’ll calmly retreat to her crate for security and decompression.
While she’s still gaining confidence indoors, Fenix truly lights up outside. The moment she knows it’s time for a walk, her tail starts wagging. Snow is her absolute favorite, she loves zooming around, jumping into it, and burying her face the second she gets outside. She also does great in the car and will just sit in your lap and loves to stick her face out the window.
Inside the home, Fenix loves to sleep and cuddle. She’s starting to show interest in toys, though fast movements can still spook her. When that happens, she quietly removes herself and takes a break until she feels ready again, a gentle, thoughtful girl through and through.
Fenix doesn’t currently live with cats or children, but we feel she would likely do well with both. Given her more introverted nature, a quieter home would suit her best, and older children would probably be a better match than very young ones.
Fenix is incredibly sweet, sensitive, and continues to open up more every day. Whoever ends up with Fenix is going to be the most loyal, gentle, low-maintenance companion.
If you’re looking for a calm, loving dog who’s perfectly content sleeping most of the day, enjoying peaceful walks, and being by your side, Fenix just might be your girl.
