Danni

Danni arrived from Barbados with a past that wasn’t always kind but she’s not dwelling on it and she’s ready for what’s next. Danni’s looking for a place where the ground feels solid, where the days have a gentle, predictable rhythm, and where there is  patience to let her develop and trust at her own pace.
Danni absolutely loves people. She’s a people-dog through and through but she can also be a little shy at first which may make people think that’s not the case. That shyness isn’t a flaw though, it’s just her way of saying, “let’s get to know each other first.” And when you do, get ready because her loyalty runs deep. Once you’re her person, you’re her person. Danni will be your adorable shadow, your steady companion, your faithful friend no matter what.
Danni is both house trained and crate trained. She already lives peacefully with cats and would be happy to continue doing so as long as they’re dog-savvy. Danni has been known to engage her current cat siblings in to play whether or not they agree to it.
Danni also lives with multiple dogs and would be very happy to share her home with another canine companion who is both gentle and confident. Lacking confidence herself, Danni would benefit most from a canine companion who will be both her playmate and example as how to navigate her environment.
Danni’s dream home is one where she can feel safe and supported. She requires an adopter who is a calm and confident handler and who will give her the structure and routine she needs to feel safe and secure. Danni doesn’t need perfection, she needs presence. Someone who moves through life with a steady energy and who won’t take her shyness personally. Someone who will celebrate every small step she takes toward trust.
Busy city life isn’t for Danni. She is not a candidate to live in a busy urban area or an apartment as this type of environment would be too stressful for her. Danni thrives where the pace is slower, a suburban home or a rural property is ideal.
While Danni can be crated for up to 8 hours, a home where this is the norm, would be very stressful for her. As such, Danni requires a home where someone is home more often. Danni is also not a candidate to live with kids or in a home where there is a lot of change and coming and going. She thrives with predictability and routine. Danni also loves riding in the car and is very well behaved on leash. A fenced yard is preferred but not required for the right home.
Danni isn’t a dog who arrives fully formed, she’s a work in progress and that’s exactly the point. Watching her come out of her shell is its own kind of joy. One day she’s watching from a distance; the next, she’s curled up next to you on the bed.
If you’re the kind of person who finds joy in the journey and who understands that the best things take time, Danni might just be your girl.
