Fig

Meet Fig (aka Figaroni!)
Fig is a gentle, sensitive soul who is learning to navigate the world one brave step at a time. She arrived in foster care with her sister feeling very nervous and shut down, and while both girls were unsure at first, Fig took a little longer to come out of her shell. She often looked to her sister for reassurance, trying to decide if it was safe to trust the world around her.
With time, patience, and love, Fig is making beautiful progress. She’s beginning to understand that she is safe and that people can be kind. Each day, she grows a little more confident.
Fig lives with her sister and another large breed dog and does well with both. She is fully potty trained and crate trained, comfortably spending the workday (about 8 hours) in her crate without any issues. Her crate is her safe space, and she will often retreat there when she feels overwhelmed.
She has the cutest bursts of energy—her zoomies sometimes include a little “parkour” on the couch before she tucks herself back into her crate to decompress. Outside, Fig can still feel nervous on leash, especially when there’s a lot going on, but she’s already made great improvements with the help of her foster.
Fig is a low-maintenance, low-energy girl who enjoys a quiet lifestyle. She loves cuddling up with her sister, having short play sessions, and watching the world go by from the comfort of her crate. She’s a big fan of people-watching!
She would do well in a home with another confident dog to help guide her, but she could also thrive as a solo dog with a patient adopter who will give her the time and space she needs to build confidence. When her sister isn’t around, you can see Fig’s desire to be close to her humans—she just needs a little reassurance to feel brave enough to stay.
Fig will need a patient and understanding home to help her fully blossom. She may be shy at first, but beneath that is a sweet, silly girl who is already showing glimpses of the wonderful companion she will become. Because she is easily startled, Fig would do best in a home without young children.
If you’re looking for a quiet, gentle companion and are willing to give her the time she needs to shine, Fig could be the perfect addition to your home.
