Bella

Bella is the kind of dog that steals your heart almost immediately. This gorgeous Border Collie mix is incredibly intelligent, loving, deeply loyal, and happiest when she’s right beside her people, whether that’s heading out on an adventure, curling up after a long day, or joining you for a drive just because.

Bella absolutely loves being active and involved in life. Trail runs? She’s in. Swimming and splashing around in the water? One of her favourite things. Long car rides with her humans? She’s your girl. She thrives when she has both physical exercise and mental enrichment, and because of her intelligent, working-breed personality, she is looking for an adopter who understands the needs of herding breeds and is committed to keeping her busy and fulfilled. Agility, scent work, hiking, advanced training, or similar activities a few times a week would make Bella incredibly happy.

She is wonderfully sweet and friendly with people and loves other dogs as well. Bella can have a slightly pushy, enthusiastic play style, so she would do best with canine friends who enjoy that same energetic approach to play.

Bella’s story has not been an easy one. She was abandoned at a local shelter and had only hours left before we stepped in to bring her to safety. Since then, she has been learning what it means to feel secure, loved, and part of a family. She’s made amazing progress and continues to blossom every day.

Because Bella loves her people so deeply, she will need some support and patience while adjusting to crate time during her transition into a new home. Our rescue will fully support her adopter through this process to help set everyone up for success.

Bella is currently on anti-anxiety medication while she continues to build confidence and settle into a stable routine. This may be something that could eventually be reassessed with her future adopter and veterinarian as she adjusts to her forever home.

Preference will be given to adopters with herding-breed experience and to homes committed to continuing her mental and physical enrichment. We are currently looking for a home within approximately two hours of Rockland, and we may consider a foster-to-adopt arrangement for the right fit.
