Basil
Basil is an energetic, playful little girl who has appointed herself the life of the party. She is outgoing, people-focused, and always seems ready to participate in whatever is happening around her. If there’s fun to be had, Basil would very much like to be included.
Curious and clever, Basil was also one of the first puppies in her litter to start plotting her escape from the puppy pen. Apparently, nobody told her the walls were supposed to be boundaries rather than puzzles. Her adventurous streak means she enjoys exploring and figuring things out, and we think she’ll thrive in a home that gives that busy little brain plenty of appropriate things to do.
People are high on Basil’s list of favourite things. She is very motivated to interact with her humans and already seems eager to engage and please. Although formal training hasn’t begun yet, that natural interest in people could be a wonderful foundation for reward-based training. We suspect Basil will think learning is great fun, particularly when it means doing something together with her person.
Basil is also very interested in other dogs. She frequently initiates play with the resident puppy through her pen and clearly enjoys canine interaction. She is enthusiastic and playful, so any dogs in her future home should be comfortable with the energy and sometimes questionable manners that come standard with an eight-week-old puppy.
She was quick to catch on to using the litter pan and has continued to use it consistently. Formal house training and crate training have not yet begun, so her new family should be prepared to start those skills from the beginning and help her make the transition from puppy-pen life to living in a home.
Basil’s combination of confidence, energy, curiosity, and strong interest in people makes her a really fun little puppy. She’ll benefit from a family who wants to involve their dog in their life and is excited about continuing her socialization and training while also teaching her the very important puppy skill of settling down when the party is over.
If you’re looking for a playful, outgoing sidekick who loves people, loves fun, and has already demonstrated that she considers barriers more of a suggestion than a rule, Basil may be your girl.
