Starboy

Starboy is a very sweet and social boy who wants to meet everyone and get pets from everyone he encounters! He’s calm at home and sleeps most of the time, but when he settles in with you, get ready for belly rubs, he’ll always show you his belly, and once he’s relaxed, you become his personal space.

Starboy is a moderately active puppy for his age. He tends to be pretty sleepy through the first half of the day and picks up more energy in the second half. He enjoys three walks a day plus off-leash play when he can get it, and he’s great at tiring himself out by “killing” a toy or working on a bone. He especially loves walks and sniffing, he’ll happily spend a few minutes investigating a bush or a bunch of flowers and he’s a big fan of car rides, especially when he gets to sit on your lap.

He can get a little mischievous when bored or stressed at home, occasionally grabbing a shoe or something else he decides is “in the wrong place,” so it’s best to keep shoes out of reach. He’s particular about his sleep and his crate, and may give a little warning growl if disturbed while deeply asleep or relaxing, he just wants his space respected in those moments. He has made great leash progress; these days he mostly just wants to meet other dogs, sometimes giving a little whine when he’s excited.

Starboy knows his basic commands such as sit, down, no, stay, and wait. He’s perfectly happy relaxing in his crate for a full workday, though he appreciates a good walk or some off-leash play as a reward afterward, which makes him a great fit for someone working from home or a full office day. He does really well in the car and can handle longer rides with ease.

Off-leash, Starboy plays nicely with other dogs and prefers those around his own size, though he’d ultimately prefer to be the only dog in the home, with occasional dog friends rather than a full-time housemate. He hasn’t met any cats yet. Given that he’s particular about his space and boundaries, Starboy is best suited to an adults-only home, or a home with older kids who understand and respect a dog’s boundaries.
