James Howlett

We believe this beautiful boy may be a herding type dog and knowledge about these breeds is important for anyone adopting him!
If you’re looking for a dog who is equal parts adventure buddy and couch companion, Howlett might be your perfect match. This handsome guy is a social butterfly who has never met a person or dog he didn’t like. Confident, smart, and athletic, he’s always ready for whatever the day brings—whether that’s a hike, a game of fetch, or exploring a new neighborhood.
Howlett is looking for an active home that can meet his exercise needs and keep both his body and mind engaged.  He has done well learning proper leash manners. While he will still occasionally pull and get excited when he sees a squirrel or another dog he wants to meet, he can be refocused with a little extra distance and some treats. Once he’s had a chance to burn off some energy, he’s more than happy to settle in for cuddle time with his people. He’s affectionate without being clingy and loves being part of the action while still being able to relax on his own.
This eager-to-please boy has excellent house manners. He’s non-destructive, doesn’t counter-surf or beg for food, rides well in the car, and is fully house trained. Howlett is crate trained, but takes time to settle– he often barks in protest, so he’ll do best in a home where that’s not an issue and where a consitent routine is present. As he’s proven himself to be quite the escape artist, he’d do best with a strong crate which the rescue can lend to an adopter for the first 3 months while he transitions into his new life!
When it comes to fun, Howlett has a few favorites: squeaky toys, yak cheese chews, and chasing balls outside are at the top of his list. His enthusiasm for life is contagious, and he’s always ready to join in on whatever his people are doing.
Howlett will bring endless loyalty, laughter, and companionship to the lucky family that welcomes him home.
