Koga
Koga is a sweet, gentle little guy who is looking for his forever home, and he’ll be your shadow from the moment he settles in. Always nearby but never in the way, he’s happiest when his people are around. He’ll curl up on the couch in the silliest sleeping positions, then pop up the moment he hears food being prepared.
Koga is smart and food motivated! He can be a little stubborn, and he’s still a bit skittish. With calm introductions and a small treat, he warms up quickly and loves his people. He can be cautious around strangers and may bark at new people at first, but he’s never destructive. Koga is looking for a calm and quiet home where he can be loved and safe.
Koga is a low to medium energy dog who loves his walks, usually three or four a day, and then happily naps while his person gets things done. He’s not a running partner, but he enjoys a little jog on a long line. He loves being outside in a backyard (a fence is preferred but not required) and adores car rides. He peers out the window, then settles in for a snooze once you’re on the road. He’s scared of squeaky toys but enjoys a couple of small soft toys.
Koga is house trained and has great house manners. He doesn’t chew anything, knows sit and stay, and is very eager to please, especially when treats are involved! He will sit politely and watch you eat, hoping for a sample, but he doesn’t bark about it. He doesn’t resource guard food, and he’s calm around birds and geese on walks. He can be left alone for about five hours, but not on a regular basis, as he’s happiest with company. He’s learning to be comfortable in his crate, and any small accidents when he’s excited are improving with time.
With proper introductions on neutral ground, Koga has made lots of dog friends and loves walking and visiting with them. He’s happy to have dog friends but would do best as the only dog in the home. He hasn’t been tested with cats, though he typically ignores them on walks. Because he’s still a bit skittish and the unpredictability of children can scare him, he’ll do best in an adult-only home.
Koga is looking for someone who can offer patience, routine and stability while he finishes settling in. Anyone lucky enough to adopt him will love him, and he’ll love them right back.
