Allison

Allison (Allie) is one of those dogs who quietly steals your heart.

This sweet girl is shy, gentle, affectionate, and playful once she feels safe. While she may be nervous when meeting new people, she truly wants to be part of the family. Give her a little patience and understanding, and before long she’ll be asking for cuddles, leaning in for head scratches, and showing you just how loving she really is.

Allie is still learning to trust the world around her. Her first instinct in unfamiliar situations is to avoid what scares her, so she’ll need a family willing to let her move at her own pace. The beautiful thing about Allie is that every small milestone feels incredibly rewarding. Watching her confidence grow is something truly special.

She would not do well as an only dog. Having another calm, confident dog in the home is essential for Allie. She looks to other dogs for reassurance and guidance, and having a canine companion helps her feel safe enough to explore and enjoy life. She is very submissive with other dogs and especially enjoys younger, playful companions who will invite her to play.

Outside is where Allie truly shines. Walks are her absolute favorite part of the day, and being outdoors is where she seems happiest and most confident. She loves taking in every scent along the way, happily exploring the world with her nose leading the adventure. She would do best with at least two 25-minute walks each day, along with time to safely enjoy the yard.

Although she’s still working on her confidence, Allie is wonderfully gentle. She has no history of aggression, her nervousness simply makes her cautious. When she wants to play, she’ll gently “tap” another dog to invite them, and she carries her toys with the softest mouth imaginable. One of her most adorable quirks is the way she sits directly on her bum, which never fails to make everyone smile. And when she’s feeling especially affectionate, she’ll “cobble”, giving the
tiniest, gentlest kisses and little nibbles.

Allie is house trained and can comfortably stay home alone for about five hours without any issues. Crate training has been more challenging because of her anxiety, but she’s making progress with patience and positive experiences. She already knows sit and come, and responds well to gentle guidance on walks, even when her nose is busy investigating every interesting smell.

She is good with cats, enjoys the company of other dogs, and would do best in a home with teenagers or older children who can understand that she needs time and space to build trust.

The perfect family for Allie is one that understands that trust can’t be rushed. She isn’t looking for someone to “fix” her, she’s looking for someone who will celebrate each small victory, give her grace on the harder days, and let her blossom into the incredible dog she’s meant to be.

If you’re patient enough to earn Allie’s trust, you’ll discover one of the sweetest, gentlest souls you’ll ever meet. She doesn’t ask for much, just another dog to help her feel brave, a family willing to let her move at her own pace, and a home where she can finally feel safe enough to simply be herself.
