Bushel
Bushel is a confident, outgoing little guy who has one very important question for everyone he meets: “Have you noticed me yet?” This charming boy loves being the centre of attention and is more than happy to make himself known when there are people around who could potentially be admiring him.
Very people-focused and social, Bushel loves interaction and is quick to seek out attention. He has a definite “pick me!” quality about him and isn’t one to quietly wait at the back of the crowd when affection is being handed out. If there’s an opportunity to be involved, Bushel would very much like his name added to the list.
For all his love of attention, Bushel is also a confident little explorer. He’s comfortable heading off on his own to investigate something interesting and doesn’t need his person beside him for every new experience. Like his siblings, though, he regularly checks back in with his foster mom before continuing his adventures. He has a lovely balance of curiosity and connection with his people.
Bushel’s preferred method of investigating those adventures is currently his mouth. Of all his siblings, he is the most likely to pick things up, chew them, carry them, or simply investigate whether they might belong between his teeth. His future family should expect to do plenty of puppy-proofing and redirecting toward appropriate toys and chews. The upside is that providing Bushel with appropriate outlets for that busy little mouth should offer lots of opportunities for enrichment and play.
Bushel has been raised alongside his littermates and is comfortable interacting and playing with other dogs. He has also had exposure to cats in his foster home. Because he is such an enthusiastic, mouthy little puppy, any canine or feline companions should be comfortable with puppy antics while his family helps him learn polite ways to interact.
He was quick to catch on to using the litter pan and has continued to use it consistently. Formal house training and crate training have not yet begun, so his new family should be prepared to start those skills from the beginning and help him make the transition from puppy-pen life to living in a home.
Bushel is a confident, curious, social puppy with plenty of personality packed into a little body. With continued positive socialization, reward-based training, appropriate enrichment, and humans willing to occasionally confirm that yes, Bushel is indeed the star of the show, we think he’ll grow into a wonderfully fun companion.
If you’re looking for a confident little character who loves his people, enjoys exploring, and firmly believes life is best experienced front and centre, Bushel may be your guy.

- Dogs: Yes, to dogs who will be gentle with little pups and tolerant of playful puppy nibbling, please!
- Cats: Possibly with friendly and dog-savvy cats. Bushel has been exposed to cats in his foster home, though his enthusiasm for exploring the world with his mouth means he’ll need guidance learning appropriate manners with feline friends.
- Kids: 8+ and dog-savvy as he likes to nibble in play and jump when excited.
- Housing type: Single or Townhome.
- Fenced Yard: Required for safe play in the city or a privately owned backyard green space for bathroom breaks.
- Special: Bushel is still very young and has not yet begun formal house or crate training, so he’ll need a home prepared for all the learning that comes with raising a puppy. He has been consistently using a litter pan in his foster home and was quick to figure it out, giving him a great foundation for future house training. Bushel is also the biggest “put it in my mouth and ask questions later” puppy of his litter, so his new family should be prepared for plenty of puppy-proofing, appropriate chew toys, and supervision while he learns what is and isn’t meant for puppy teeth.
- Location: We’re looking for a home in or around the Ottawa area, as this puppy still has outstanding veterinary care included in the adoption fee to complete at our veterinary partner in West Ottawa, which a new home will be required to attend.
- Adoption Fee: $900
