Deacon
Deacon is mixed breed boy who has his heart permanently set to “people.” He is the kind of dog who doesn’t just live with you, he chooses you. Every day. Repeatedly.
Deacon is wonderfully social with people, deeply affectionate, and thrives on human connection. He responds quickly to his name, making recall a breeze, and he looks to his people for guidance when encountering new places or situations. He’s calm, thoughtful, and incredibly tuned in. He is a gentle and patient boy in the home.
Deacon loves his walks and enjoys exploring anywhere his foster family drives. New neighborhoods, new trails, new smells, it’s all part of his joy of discovery. He also loves a good game of fetch and will happily chase down whatever you throw, though he’s still perfecting the “drop” part of the deal. Proof that yes, old dogs can absolutely learn new tricks.
And cars? Deacon is a car enthusiast. If a door is open, he’s ready to hop in. Destination optional.
Although Deacon lives with other dogs, he does bark at unfamiliar dogs, sometimes pulling, but he responds well to positive reinforcement and redirection. His foster family is actively working on this with positive strategies, and he is a pleasure to walk with management in place. He would prefer a home where someone is generally around. When left alone, he does bark and is ultimately sad until you return.
Deacon is entering his senior years gracefully and benefits from mindful care, regular walks, and lots of closeness. He believes every open car door is an invitation, every walk is an adventure, and every person needs more love.
