Kahlua

Kahlua is outgoing, confident, and social. She loves meeting new people and is always happy to make new dog friends. Playtime is her favorite pastime, and she is considered a high energy dog. If you’ve got a large, fenced yard, Kahlua will be in heaven. She truly thrives when she gets lots of outdoor time. She’s definitely an outside-first kind of dog.

Because she’s so active, Kahlua needs regular exercise (monitor for knee discomfort) and mental stimulation to stay her best self. Without enough activity, she can get bored and may become destructive in the house, so she’s looking for a home that enjoys an active lifestyle and can keep up with her enthusiasm.

Kahlua has some food-related resource guarding with other dogs, but this is very manageable by feeding her separately. She is crate trained and house trained and settles nicely once her exercise needs are met. She’s still working on her leash manners, but with consistency and practice, she’ll continue to improve.

When the fun is done, Kahlua flips the switch and becomes incredibly affectionate and cuddly. She loves relaxing on the couch, pressed close to her people, soaking up attention and companionship.

Kahlua would do best with an active family or individual who can give her the exercise she craves and the love she deserves.

  • Special: Special: Kahlua arrived in our care with concerns about a possible hip or hind‑limb injury. X‑rays did not reveal any significant issues, but out of caution she was placed on restricted activity while she healed. At her recent recheck, Kahlua showed great improvement and is currently doing very well. She is not in pain and does not require any medication or supplements for her hips at this time.  However, based on her history, she will likely never be a candidate for high‑intensity exercise such as long-distance running, agility sports, or other strenuous activities.  Her future adopter should simply keep an eye on her mobility and consult their veterinarian if she ever shows signs of discomfort so they can discuss appropriate next steps.
  • Adoption fee: $900

None of our dogs are candidates for dog parks due to risk, so if these are important to you, please do not apply.

Only best matched applicants will be contacted - we are 100% volunteer run and do not have the resources to respond to every applicant or inquiry.
