Kandice

Kandice (AKA Kinney) is a loving, affectionate, and highly people-oriented puppy who forms strong bonds with her humans. She prefers to be close to her people at all times and thrives on connection and attention. She is curious and adventurous, often exploring closets and new spaces with great enthusiasm. She knows how to sit and is very food motivated, which makes training enjoyable and rewarding. Kinney loves to play fetch, and tennis balls are by far her favourite toy.  She currently lives with two older Cavalier King Charles Spaniels who are very patient but understandably a bit overwhelmed by her puppy energy. She is very social and would do best with a playful dog companion who can match her enthusiasm and help burn off some of that energy.
She has a wonderful, gentle side as well. Kinney has spent time visiting seniors and is incredibly calm and affectionate in that environment, happily sitting on laps and soaking up attention. She is truly loved by everyone she meets. While she has lots of energy and can be quite busy, she also has a sweet and cuddly side once she settles. She enjoys snuggling with her canine housemates (even if they are sometimes reluctant participants) and will happily curl up when she is tired.
Kinney is still learning her manners and independence. She is currently working on leash training and continues to build confidence when left alone. With consistency, patience, and guidance, she will continue to grow into a well-rounded companion. Kinney will thrive in a home that is patient, committed, and ready for the realities of raising a young puppy. She is not the easiest puppy, but she is incredibly rewarding. She will bring laughter, companionship, and a lot of love to the right home.

Additional notes

  • Dogs: Yes as long as the dog is playful, patient and would enjoy puppy energy!
  • Cats: Unknown.
  • Kids: Yes, 8+ and dog-savvy - children must understand how to interact appropriately and safely with a young dog.
  • Housing Type: Single family home. Kinney does vocalize when left alone or in her crate, so a shared wall environment may be challenging at this stage.
  • Fenced Yard: Preferred. She is still adjusting to the outdoors, especially in colder weather, but is becoming more confident and curious as the weather improves.
  • Special: Kinney is a puppy and will require continued training and structure. She needs frequent bathroom breaks. She is working on recall, which is a work in progress, and will benefit from consistent, positive reinforcement training. She would do best in a home where someone is around more often or where she can be offered a midday break to support her ongoing training, including house training, crate training, leash skills, and general manners.
  • Location: This puppy is looking for a home in the Ottawa area, as she still has standard vetting covered by the adoption fee to complete at our vet in West Ottawa.
  • Adoption fee: $900
