Nala

Introducing Nala! If you are looking for a smart, sweet and gentle older dog, look no further! Nala is all of those things and more!

Nala is pure love and perfection! This absolute sweetheart is smart, loyal, playful, silly, and so wonderful! Despite her age, Nala is a medium to high energy girl! While at home Nala has been described as lazy by her foster parents. She loves to watch TV with her people, eat, sleep and play with the occasional toy. Once Nala is outside her playful and energetic side really shines! Nala loves to play fetch and will carry her own ball on her walks, always prepared for an impromptu game of fetch! Nala enjoys 3 good walks a day and would also love a backyard for off leash playtime with her humans.

Nala is house and crate trained. She can do a full work day in her crate as long as she has had a good walk and some play time beforehand. In a new environment she may be vocal in her crate when first left alone so adopters must be prepared for this. Her foster parents often put on podcasts or leave the TV on for her when they are away, this helps her feel safe and drowns out any scary outside noises which may cause her to bark if she’s startled. When Nala first arrived in her foster home she was a bit stressed and nervous, her foster parents showed her lots of patience and kindness which helped her to feel safe and comfortable. Once Nala settles in you will see what an amazing dog she is and she now sleeps peacefully in her crate when her foster family is away.

Nala does not currently live with other dogs, cats or children but she has met them and has done well! We believe she could possibly live with a cat as she has been gentle in her previous interactions with them, slow and proper introductions are required. Nala gets excited and will sometimes bark when she sees other dogs on walks but she will instantly become calm once she’s had the chance to meet and sniff the other dog. For this reason we believe she could live with another dog who has similar energy level to Nala, slow and proper introductions are again required.

Nala is so smart!! The training possibilities are endless with this girl! She loves to learn and try new games and tricks with her foster parents! She would love a home that will prioritize teaching her new things and offer her lots of mental enrichment!
