Nalini

Nalini (Nali) is the kind of pup that everyone remembers for her sweet and gentle personality. Her unique fluffy ears and soft eyes make her not only adorable but extremely smoochable as well. Nali is definitely a shadow dog who loves to follow her people from room to room if only to find her next spot by their feet. While typically very outgoing, Nali can be a bit shy on occasion and may bark when she first meets someone new, typically men. Thankfully, she is easily won over with some kind words and treats but continued work on building her confidence with new people is important. While in foster care Nail has been exposed to many different busy environments including dog sport events and veterinary clinics. Nali is able to be calm and relaxed in these environments and has proven that she enjoys going places with her people even when there are lots of other people and dogs.
Despite being a pretty outgoing pup, Nali would still prefer a more quiet home where she has a predictable routine and where someone is home most of the time. While Nali is crate trained and can tolerate being crated for up to 8 hours, she would struggle in a home where being crated for extended periods daily, was part of her routine. Someone who worked from home full-time or a hybrid schedule, would be an ideal match for her. Nali is fully house trained and is an excellent passenger in the car.  Nali does have a very loud bark and although she is generally a quiet dog, she will bark when first put in her crate and when her person gets home as well as when she is excited. For this reason, she needs a home where some barking will be tolerated. A fenced backyard is also required.
Nali is a medium-energy dog who is happy to be your sidekick on adventures but equally as happy to fill the role of being your personal heater and weighted blanket.  She doesn’t have the best manners though so she will need patient and consistent reinforcement from her adoptive family to remind her that paws should stay on the floor and that mouths are for chewing toys not nibbling hands. Nali would do best in an adult only home or a home with older teens who can participate in her training.
Nali would love to have another friendly dog in her home but could also live as a single pup in the right home. She is also happy to share her home with dog-savvy, confident cats who will are not afraid to set boundaries with her. Nali currently lives with cats, other dogs and a plethora of farm animals including goats, sheep, geese and chickens. She has proven to be safe with all of them.
Nali is a dog who is full of potential. Her dedication to her people makes her both an eager learner and a very loyal companion. It is important however, that her adopter set well defined boundaries for Nali so that she doesn’t develop challenging behaviours like separation anxiety. The intensity of Nali’s love for her people make this a likely outcome if she is not supported with clear rules and fair boundaries. This means keeping a consistent daily routine which includes ensuring Nali spends some time in her crate and very importantly, ignoring her until she is calm. With a consistent, predictable schedule and clear expectations, Nali is an easy keeper.
If you’re ready to give this mostly outgoing but sometimes shy but always sweet girl the time and love she needs, Nalini is ready to meet you!
