Riley
Riley is a stunning mixed dog looking for a foster-to-adopt home that values structure, consistency, and clear leadership. She’s a sweet dog at heart, very intelligent, and deeply wants to do the right thing — she needs the right structure in her life. Riley is currently in a training program and responds best to a calm and structured approach. She does well with clear boundaries, threshold training, and being asked for permission before engaging in activities. This type of guidance helps her feel more secure and confident, and it’s where she truly thrives.
On leash, Riley can be reactive and is walked wearing a muzzle to keep her calm. With structure and consistency, she is learning to better regulate herself, but she will need a handler who is comfortable continuing this work. Riley is extremely smart and learns quickly, sometimes too quickly — she can be so engaged in her current task (like playing with other dogs) that it can be a challenge to catch her attention. This is something that, with practice and repetition, will improve.
She enjoys affection and loves attention. She can feel nervous with smothering cuddles and full-body handling so slow and steady, with lots of positive experiences,
wins the race
Riley is crate trained and likes her crate, but she may bark if she thinks you’ve left the house. The crate is essential in her training though because if unsupervised, she may get into things she shouldn’t (this is very typical of a young dog).
An experienced home that enjoys training and investing in good communication and boundaries will set Riley up to become the fun-loving girl we know. She will shine brightest and be the silliest once she feels comfortable around you and knows what to expect.
Riley is medium energy, fun, goofy and full of potential. While Riley isn’t a “plug-and-play” dog, for the right person, she’ll be an incredibly rewarding companion who will love her person completely.
