Triscuit
Triscuit is a very smart, confident, and playful puppy who is full of joy! Big energy comes in this adorable and fun little package, though it’s often followed by a nap in his beloved dog bed. After a morning play session or short walk, he’s typically quiet during the day, but he really seems to come alive in the evening – this is his time to show off his strong fetching and tugging skills! He is comfortable with adults, respectful children, and other dogs, and he loves to play, play, play with anything and everything. Having another dog around with whom he can play will be important in keeping him entertained and feeling secure. The resident dog in his foster home is a 45lbs female dog with whom he desperately wants to snuggle. In typical puppy fashion, he is still learning what is and is not an appropriate object to put in his mouth, so puppy-proofing the house will be necessary. He has not been tested around cats. He is interested in squirrels, but he doesn’t seem to have a particularly high prey drive.
Triscuit is crate trained. When his foster mom and her dog leave the house, he cries in his crate for about a minute, but then he settles down and sleeps. When the resident dog is left with him, he doesn’t cry at all. At night, he sleeps in his crate without complaint, typically waking up once in the night to ask to go outside. He is very consistent in peeing and pooping when taken outside, though he still has accidents in the house. For that reason, he will need somebody who is home more often than not to support his house training in his early days.
Triscuit does well in the car (he is crated for safety). He is snuggly when sleepy, but he is an adorably squirmy little puppy when awake. He is learning to walk on a leash (which is currently loves to try to chew), and he would love to be part of an active household. He will thrive in positive reinforcement dog training classes. This lovely little mam is eager to meet his forever people!
